a bit later than expected, but today I’m updating you on the Dark Souls/Symphonic Story project.
Listening to the 50% milestone track a number of times, I always felt that there was something missing in the form of the piece, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. After trying a few things, deleting measures, trying out various continuations of the current melody etc, I came to the conclusion that there was simply too much material for this stage of the piece, and needed to make some adjustments. The theme I introduce here (0.00 – 0.19) :
needed more fleshing out for the climax (0.30 – 0.44) to have any effect.
And so I did just that! I stretched the piece, inserted a pretty large amount of measures and introduced a new build up so that there is now much more anticipation towards this “climax” :
Here is the current lay-out for the first part of the piece. Keep in mind that what you are about to hear is still bare-bones and mainly serves as a blueprint for myself while I work on the piece, but it will give you an idea of what’s to come. Of course, I will add more colour and add more (harmonic) continuity to these “building blocks” so to say. This is the current W.I.P. :
Also, it could use a bit of “darkening” as this is Dark Souls after all!
Finally, there will be new pages coming soon! I will be adding the “home” page soon, where you will be able to read the concept behind this site and where you will also be able to read a little bit about me, your host! So stay tuned for that ;).
Also, a themes page (of sorts) will be added, where projects will be categorized into their respective worlds/themes/idioms. Does this mean there will be more Dark Souls projects, you ask? Maybe.. ! There will also be other worlds to explore of course.. Stick around and find out what’s to come in the future!
Let me know what you think! Am I on the right path? Is this a classical interpretation of the Dark Souls you can get behind? Things you would do or like to see done differently? Let me know in the comments and we’ll talk about it.
